Texas waffle

The following is my breakfast waffle from the Super8 in Amarillo, Texas. Apparently Texans are proud of their waffles too. 🙂

If you get breakfast at the Super8 (Lakeside Exit) in Amarillo, Texas, this is the shape of the waffles they provide. Pretty cool, actually.

Making up lost time

The last time I went down to Red’s MIAZ (Meet In Arizona) gathering, I got nearly all the way to St. Louis, Missouri on the first evening’s ride. This time, as noted in my previous post, I only got to Springfield, Illinois, which meant that I would need to make up the lost hour the next day. That would be a challenge since this day was to be 800+ miles anyway.

Yeesh.

The good news is that there wasn’t a drop of rain in the forecast. The bad news is that there was a steady strong wind coming from the west and I would be doing battle with it all day.

Planned for rain but got frozen instead

Nothing really went as planned for this first day out.

I wanted to get out of work around 3pm to I could be well on the road by 5pm. That would put me in good position to beat the advancing line of thunderstorms that was coming up from Indiana. It would also afford me the best chance to get down towards St. Louis, MO before I turned into a pumpkin.

Pick your poison (weather)

I’m leaving for Arizona this evening after work and my goal is to get to somewhere around St. Louis, Missouri before getting some sleep. Unfortunately, there’s plenty of nasty weather forecasted along the way.

As it happens, I can get to St. Louis by way of either Chicago or Indianapolis. (There’s only a only a nine mile difference between these routes.) So my quandary is: which route to take?

Here’s the latest radar from the Weather Channel.

Hmm… what to do?

Let the real blogging begin!

The basic testing is complete. The WordPress software is installed. The input methods from my computers and my iPhone have been tested. A geotagging plugin has been added.

I leave for Red’s little soirée on Wednesday and I should be able to keep those that care up to date with the latest shenanigans. It will probably be the first time that Ghost Cruises has seen live updates in about seven years and that’s embarrassing.

As of today’s date, all of the earlier posts are just tests that I will eventually delete. In the future, I will migrate over the content from the original Ghost Cruises site and that will populate the earlier dates with that content (probably all the way back to 1997 — that’s scary).
