My route took me along the Blue Mountains Scenic Byway in Oregon between Sumpter and Ione. The route crosses some isolated areas via a National Forest road between Granite and Ukiah. This road was closed when I reached it due to a recent wildfire. Lucky for me, the National Forest ranger that was there at the Road Closed sign told me to take it easy and I could "sneak through". This photo is of one of several firefighting camps I saw along the road. In the background you can see the partially burned forest.
