DeAngelisDonuts

DeAngelisDonuts

Behold! The true breakfast mecca for the citizens of Beaver Falls, PA. Heck, you'd thing the Cruiser had scared away all the customers. Nostalgia Note: After reading this trip report, Jim Codespote emailed me with some memories of his youth in Beaver Falls. He writes: "I grew up in Beaver Falls only a few blocks from the DeAngelis Donut Shop. Just a bit of history, that DeAngelis Donut shop was the first shop for Joe DeAngelis. There are 3 shops all together now (I think), but that was the original. Joe died several years ago and his wife and sons ran it. Don't know if they still do. The big donut sign outside the shop was the most popular thing on the hill. When I was a kid (5 or 6 yrs old in the 1960's), the whole thing lit up, the arrow flashed and the big donut at the top spun round and round (it was lit too). I would beg my dad to drive past the "big donut" everytime we were in the car. I would chant "go see the donut, go see the donut" until he couldn't take it any more and would drive out of his way past the donut. Ahh the good old days. As you probably noticed, the sign is rusting out and doesn't light anymore."
